Cost of Education Committee

The Student Government Association president and the Vice President for Business Affairs will co-chair the Cost of Education Committee (COEC). The SGA president will retain the tie-breaking vote. Membership will consist as noted below.

The University’s Budget Officer shall establish a timeline for the designated tuition & fee setting process that considers UT System directives and guidelines. The university’s budget office staff shall serve as support to the co-chairs and members of the committee.

Purpose

To review the proposed rates for designated tuition, differential tuition, incidental, mandatory, E&G and auxiliary fees and charges.

Responsibilities

To engage in discussions on budget issues related to the committee’s purpose

To host multiple forums on the proposals presented to the committee and on the draft recommendations of the committee.

To engage the requestors as well as a broad spectrum of students, alumni, parents and the greater community in a transparent process

To provide the president with a written report on the committee’s recommendations and the context of its decisions
