Incentives for a Timely Graduation
As an incentive to promote a timely graduation,
students are encouraged to enroll in more than 14
hours each semester and are not charged for additional
hours above 14 semester credit hours.
As an encouragement for students to focus on degree-required
coursework and to discourage dropping classes, UTPA
charges an additional amount of designated tuition
for excess credit hours beyond the amount listed in
the student's degree plan.
No Tuition Charges Beyond 14 Hours
As an incentive to promote a timely graduation,
students are encouraged to enroll in more than 14
hours each semester and are not charged for additional
hours above 14
semester credit hours.
Concurrent Enrollment
Concurrent
Enrollment allows academically talented high school
juniors and seniors to enroll in University courses
and receive college credit. Concurrent Enrollment
opportunities are offered through both distance learning
and on-campus attendance programs. The
High School to University Program makes tuition incentives available
to qualified students from participating school districts.
University Scholars
Entering
freshmen from one of several designated counties
in the South Texas area (Brooks, Cameron, Duval,
Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg,
Nueces, Starr, Webb, Willacy, and Zapata counties)
who has earned college credit through Advanced
Placement (AP) examinations and/or the Concurrent
Enrollment (CE) program at The University of Texas-Pan
American, or are an International Baccalaureate
Diploma recipient, may qualify for a four-year
renewable scholarship, valued at $12,000, at the
University of Texas Pan American and the special

Other UTPA Advantages
Attending UTPA offers many other advantages:
Students can easily find research
faculty involved in collaborative programs via the
new ReSearch
Profile (RSP) system.
Living on campus has never been easier. The
"Unity Hal" residence halll makes up the
fourth addition to UTPA’s
current housing.

Students living on campus can take full advantage
of the new Wellness & Recreational
Sports Center that is scheduled to
open in Fall of 2007.

Students can get involved with extracurricular
sports teams such as The University of Texas-Pan
American intramural flag football team, the Stallions,
who were recently crowned
the 2007 National Intramural Recreation Sports Association
Flag Football
Champions. This was the first time a UTPA Intramurals
and Recreational Sports team has won a national title
in
any intramural event.
