Becoming a scientist

HHMI has eleven discussions with top scientists about the characteristics needed to become a researcher.

It's never too early to do research

Many students seem think that only people with years of experience and advanced degrees get to conduct cutting edge research. Check out this TED talk by Eve Vertes, who started her research career in her teens.

The GRE

Many students in our department know about standardized tests for professional schools like the MCAT, DAT, and so on, but are less aware of the GRE. The main GRE website is gre.org. You can find some initial free preparation materials here.

If you are interested in writing or preparing for the GRE, contact Zen Faulkes. If there is sufficient interest, we may try to organize a GRE prep class with an instructor.

Graduate schools

Graduateschools.com and gradschools.com are both clearing houses for programs across the country.

Everything Bio has a page on Biology Grad School Advice.
