The HHMI Grant program is administered through the College of Science and Engineering, with the outreach component managed in the College of Health Science and Human Services.

PARTNERING INSTITUTIONS
Collaboration with Purdue University, The University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio, and The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston has been established to provide training and instruction in the management of equipment in the core laboratory and to give UTPA students additional opportunities for research.
PROGRAM ASSESSMENT
The grant utilizes a subset of its seminar speakers to review faculty research and the UTPA academic program. These visiting scientists evaluate the instructional programs in biology and chemistry and make necessary recommendations for continued improvements. In addition, program assessment, is performed during each academic semester by a Program Committee, which consists of the program director and participating UTPA faculty. Two external evaluators are also appointed by collaborating institutions to assess the program on a yearly basis.
