First Steps in Proceeding with the Dissertation Research
1. Prepare IRB Proposal. (See link on left column under IRB procedures) or go to http://www.panam.edu/dept/sponpro/
- Once you have linked to the IRB website, click on Proposal Development
- Then click on IRB forms (on this page, scroll down to "Federal and UTPA Regulations links" and click on Human Participant Protections Education for Research Teams (Tutorial & Web Certificate)
- Finally, once you have completed printing your Certificate, on that same page, return to the top and click on "Click here to obtain documents for submission".
Some tips to avoid any delays before submitting your IRB to the Office of Research & Sponsored Projects:
Important - If any person is assisting you with your dissertation data collection or data analysis (i.e. data entry, transcription, etc.) , in addition to you, that person must complete a Citi Course tutorial and complete this online training. You may find this tutorial by visiting www.citiprogram.org/default.asp
- IRB online training: It is required that you complete an IRB online training. Once completed, print your Certification and attach it to your IRB when submitting it.
- Signature on forms: Be sure all signatures are on the forms. If you do not have all the required signatures, the IRB will be returned.
- Consent Form: You must specify the university campus address and not your residence.
- Address: Make sure it has the building & room number.
- Form: Please be sure you fill out the entire IRB form(s) or visit http://www.utpa.edu/orsp/prodevforms.html
2. Designate your Dissertation Committee. Your committee members must have Graduate Status before serving on your committee (See Graduate Faculty Directory for listing of faculty). Prepare an Application for Dissertation Committee.
