Alpha Gamma Chapter

 One of the most exciting facets of the college experience is being involved I student organizations. Joining a student organization can give you the opportunity to meet new people, create new friendships and gain a valuable experience. Omega Delta Phi Fraternity is a service/social fraternity dedicated to the needs and concerns of the overall community. Alpha Gamma Chapter has been an active student organization at UTPA since 1998. As members of this brotherhood, they have the opportunity to work with the community as well as create strong bonds with other members of the organization. Unlike other fraternities, Omega Delta Phi believes in hands on community service and not check-writing community service. It is designed to allow students who would not normally experience the Greek system, to experience it. “This Brotherhood presides itself on being diverse, that is why the organization has grown at such incredible pace.” Says Nathan Obregon, a founder of the UTPA chapter. “All members have the opportunity to voice and defend his opinion.”

“The fraternity has designed a program to give every member the opportunity to reflect, learn and set aspirations towards his own personal mission in life,” says Arturo Baraza, Founding Father, “and that is why community service is the light through which Omega Delta Phi shines.” Some of the community service the UTPA Chapter has in the past or is currently involved with include the Texas Special Olympics, Toys For Tots, Habitat for Humanity, and McAllen, Edinburg, and Donna Boys & Girls Club. Omega Delta Phi is a selective fraternity. Alpha Gamma Chapter currently has fifteen active members. We concentrate on quality individuals rather than on numbers. During the Fall of ‘98 and Fall ‘99 Alpha Gamma Chapter was able to accumulate over one thousand hours of combined community service hours earning us an award for most community service hours in South Central II Region.
