RECRUITMENT CODE OF ETHICS

  1. A fraternity may not discriminate against a potential member on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, economic or geographic background.
  2. Fraternity members may not go door-to-door to deliver invitations for recruitment events.
  3. Fraternity members may not invite a recruit to out-of-house events where alcoholic beverages are available or served.
  4. Fraternity members may not pressure recruits to commit to one fraternity before formal recruitment begins.
  5. No alcohol is to be consumed during the recruitment period by fraternity actives, alumni, or recruits on fraternity premises.
  6. Excessive coercion for a recruit to accept a bid is prohibited.
  7. Slander of other fraternities at any time, especially during recruitment period, is prohibited.
  8. Alumni and national officers may not extend bids, but may otherwise participate in recruitment.
  9. Bid cards must be signed legibly by the fraternity president and recruit. Bids are binding for one semester.
  10. All factual information given to rushees must be accurate.
  11. Violation of any of these rules by individual fraternity members will make the entire chapter accountable.
