UT Pan American criminal justice professor to discuss crime throughout history Nov. 5

Dr. Jon Sorensen, associate professor of criminal justice at The University of Texas-Pan American, will give a presentation Wednesday, Nov. 5, at noon at the McAllen Country Club on "Crime Throughout History."

Sorensen will provide an overview of the causes of crime and proposed solutions and will discuss attendant myths regarding crime and criminals throughout the ages.

The presentation is part of a series of Faculty Forums hosted by the UT Pan American Alumni Association. Tickets are $12.50 per person, including the soup-to-dessert buffet. Reservations are required and can be made through the Alumni Association at 381-2500.

Upcoming Faculty Forums will feature Dr. James Haule of the Department of English Feb. 4 on "Poetica Tremens: The Fear of Poetry and Other Mild Psychotic Disorders" and Dr. Jo Ann Burns of the Department of Educational Psychology March 4 on "Identification and Nurturing of a Gifted Child." Both also will be held at noon at the McAllen Country Club.
