Members of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) are again providing free tax preparation to faculty, staff, students and members of the community who need assistance.

The tax preparation service is available to individuals and families who earn $51,000 or less annually. The students have been trained and certified to prepare and file tax returns by the IRS. ALPFA Members will help people with their tax preparation, e-filing and questions about other tax issues as part of the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) through April 13. No appointment is required.

“The majority of the volunteers are accounting students,” said Luisa Gonzalez-Hurt, an administrative services officer with the College of Business Administration. “This program provides a valuable experience in their field to these future accountants.”

The tax preparation services are available Wednesdays from 5:30-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Call Center, next to the cafeteria.

For more information, call (956) 665-2570 or go to the VITA website.
