Ray, a 1978 graduate of McAllen High School, is a senior game designer for Schell Games and has designed games for Sony Online Entertainment and the Cartoon Network. A designer since the 1990s, Ray is the co-founder of Women in Games International and is a 2005 recipient of the "Game Developer's Choice Award" from the International Game Developer's Association. She will discuss the basics of game design and the game design industry.
The STEM Lecture Series is part of a national initiative to inspire more students to enter and succeed in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). To compete globally, the United States needs a generation of more STEM field graduates.
"Through the STEM Lecture Series we try to bring dynamic speakers who pose thought provoking ideas to our students and the community," said Sylvia Saenz, director of Graduate Studies at UTPA. "We want our students to learn about and be inspired by these leaders in their field."
