Supported by funding provided by a TG Benefit grant, eight new tutors trained in reading and critical thinking strategies will be available to guide students in any subject and any level, including graduate students.
“Reading and critical thinking are skills which affect students’ retention and success in every class,” said Dr. Rebekah Hamilton, University Writing Center director. “With this new service, students will finally have a place to go where they can get help with these vital components of their university coursework."
Hamilton said the center will have two to three tutors available at any one time so that students can receive assistance when it is convenient to their schedules.
Hours for the new tutoring services will be:
• Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays - 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Thursdays - 9 a.m.-noon; 1-5 p.m. (closed noon to 1 p.m.); and
• Fridays - 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
The center is located on the first floor of the University Library, Suite 101.
