Studio Twelve01, a component of the University Marketing and Communications, earned the Gold ADDY and “Best of Show” honor for the Bronc Spirit Holiday E-card, which also included a printed version with a QR code for recipients to access the video card. The electronic version featured UTPA President Dr. Robert S. Nelsen and his wife Jody, along with numerous students, alumni, faculty and staff who brought the spirit of the holidays to life at UTPA.
“This award is for everybody who played a role in making this project successful and at the same time fun to produce. This piece is truly a reflection of our UTPA family and the spirit of Bronc Country,” said Dr. Kimberly Selber, associate vice president for University Marketing and Communications.
The creative team on this project included Studio Twelve01 – Danny Cardenas (art director), Sally Mendiola (account services/art director), Selber (creative director/director/copywriter); Video Services – Michael Sandoval (editor), Kevin Shopshire, Jesus Gutierrez, Fernando Martinez, Armando Artidiello, Johnathan Cox; and Web Services: Russell Dove, Ana Flores, and Kumar Raman.
Studio Twelve01 also picked up a Gold ADDY for its production of seven towering banners representing each UTPA college. The banners were used during UT Pan American Day at the Texas Capitol in January 2011 and can be seen at major campus events throughout the year. Applause goes out to Studio Twelve01 staff members Selber (creative director/art director) and Roberto Castro (graphic designer).
The annual awards competition recognizes creative excellence in local media, including print, broadcast, interactive, out-of-home and public service. Winners of the Rio Grande Valley ADDY Awards are eligible to compete in the second level of the three-tiered ADDY Awards competition. At the second tier, local winners compete against other winners in one of 15 district competitions. District winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national ADDY Awards competition.
The AAF is the oldest national advertising trade association, representing 40,000 professionals in the advertising industry.
