As with any new addition to a family, the biggest challenge is finding the right name. That's why we're asking students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to help us come up with creative names that easily reflect the purpose of each site, connect them to the University and give them an identity that eases navigation for visitors.
You are welcome to submit as many names as you would like and to visit the survey multiple times. This survey will be open until Oct. 24, 2011. If you have any questions, please contact University Marketing and Communications at (956) 665-8918.

#1 Academic and Administrative Annex
2412 S. Closner Blvd., Edinburg
In the coming months, the Academic and Administrative Annex, more commonly referred to as "the Annex," will have a change in tenants. From housing a number of community outreach programs and several student affairs offices for years, the Annex will become home to the Department of Art's studio art and graphic design programs.
Also, UTPA's smaller building at 2402 S. Closner Blvd., just north of the Annex, also has a new purpose. What has been the Valley Outreach Center is now home to the Office of Alumni Relations and the UTPA Alumni Association. The UT System Board of Regents recently approved a change in name of the facility to the Alumni Center.
Challenge:
1. Propose a new name for the Academic and Administrative Annex that reflects its new purpose as home to much of the Department of Art.
2. Propose a name for the two-facility site to identify the complex as part of UTPA.

Located on the northwest corner of the Freddy Gonzalez Drive and Interstate 281 intersection, the Haggar Building has seen limited use since it was purchased by the University in 2003. After a major renovation, the building will house most of the offices currently in the Annex as well as those already located there, including Central Receiving, Surplus, Records Management and Print Shop.
New tenants will include several Community Engagement programs, Rural and Business Development, GEAR UP, Educational Talent Search, High School to University Programs, Testing Services and the Border Health Office. The building will also feature a large multipurpose room and several classroom/meeting rooms.
Challenge:
1. Propose a new name for the Haggar Building that reflects its new purpose and identifies the facility as part of UTPA.
