The University of Texas-Pan American is offering another opportunity for middle and high school-aged students to learn more about math and science through hands-on activities at its Striving Towards Educational Pathways (STEP) Camps this summer.

UTPA, in collaboration with the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center, Rapid Response Manufacturing Center and the College of Engineering and Computer Science, are hosting the day camps throughout July and August to foster an interest in careers related to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and encourage students to attend college.

The STEP Camps will be held from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in four sessions: July 12-15 and 19-22, and Aug. 2-5 and 9-12. Each session has an open enrollment and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee for each session is $250, which includes breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Students will learn from faculty members and instructors who are experts in their fields and represent an array of professional backgrounds. They will develop critical thinking and team building skills, as well as build self esteem while participating in activities including gaming, engineering and robotics.
