This is your chance to see the Chief Justice – Wallace B. Jefferson – and eight Justices – Nathan L. Hecht, Dale Wainwright, David Medina, Paul W. Green, Phil Johnson, Don R. Willett, Eva Guzman and Debra Lehrmann – in action. The last time the justices heard cases on campus was in 2001.
Students, faculty, staff, and public are invited to attend and hear oral arguments on two cases – 09-0340 Insurance Company of the State of Pennsylvania v. Carmen Muro, from Dallas County, 5th District, and 10-0235 Re State of Texas, from Travis County, 3rd District.
Hearing Schedule
7:30 a.m. – Doors Open
9 a.m. – First Hearing
9:40-9:50 - Break
9:50 a.m. – Second Hearing
10:30 a.m. – Short Q&A session with Chief Justice and Eight Justices
For individuals planning to attend the hearings, there are some guidelines that must be followed:
• Arrive early because of mandated security screenings.
• No backpacks, purses, cellphones or cameras will be allowed in the hearing room (Student Union Theatre).
• No talking or texting while cases are being argued.
• No leaving the Student Union while a case is being argued (there will be break between cases).
