UTPA was ranked among the top 10 universities in the country to award doctoral degrees in education and business, management and marketing programs and among the top 25 in master’s and doctoral degrees in engineering, education and business, management and marketing degrees. It also is among the top 25 in the country to enroll Hispanic students in graduate programs, according to the April 5 edition of The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine.
The magazine based its rankings on data from the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System from 2008 and 2009.
The University is third in the nation for awarding doctoral degrees in education to Hispanic students, conferring 13.
UTPA also ranked fourth in giving doctoral degrees in business, management and marketing and in awarding master’s and doctoral degrees in education. The University issued three doctoral degrees in business, management and marketing. Of 302 graduate degrees in education it bestowed, 267 were to Hispanic students.
The University ranked sixth out of 25 schools in the country in enrolling Hispanic students. Out of 2,198 students it enrolled in graduate programs, 1,651 were Hispanic.
Out of 25 universities in the country to award graduate degrees to Hispanic students, UTPA ranked 23rd in business, management and marketing and 25th in engineering.
UTPA continues to be among the top higher education institutions to confer degrees to Hispanic students. Last year, the magazine ranked UTPA third in the nation in bestowing master’s degrees.
