More than 60 companies and organizations from across the nation will attend this year’s Career Expo including Procter & Gamble, ExxonMobil, Raytheon, U.S. Census Bureau, American Airlines, H-E-B Grocery Company, Target Corporation and many more.
In addition, a Student/Employer Networking Social, sponsored by Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Inc., will be held Thursday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. at the UTPA Wellness and Recreational Sports Complex to provide students and alumni the opportunity to network with exhibitors.
Both the Networking Social and the HESTEC Career Expo are open to all UTPA students, faculty, administrators and alumni. Admission is free. Students from the surrounding colleges and universities are also welcome to attend.
People wishing to visit with company representatives are encouraged to bring résumés to distribute to recruiters and dress professionally.
UTPA Career Services is committed to providing students with assistance and support in their career development and job search needs. For the past eight years, Career Services has sponsored this HESTEC event, which has provided many employment opportunities for students in the South Texas.
HESTEC (Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology) Week, Sept. 28-Oct. 3, is an innovative and inspiring weeklong program that provides teacher training, workshops, presentations, exhibits and exciting student competitions. It brings together corporate, government and education experts from across the country to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics education to Hispanic students.
