UTPA has teamed up with Knowsys Test Prep LLC to offer for the first time a SAT Prep Program at the University that will help South Texas students seeking to raise their SAT scores in preparation for applying to college. The initial course for the UTPA SAT Prep Program will begin July 22.
The Office of Continuing Education at UTPA has teamed up with Knowsys Test Prep LLC to offer the course, which is similar to ones offered at other universities in Texas, including Baylor University and the University of Houston.

During the course, students learn the Knowsys SAT test-taking strategies and systematically review the math, verbal and writing content tested on the current SAT. The course is 40 hours long, spread out over three weeks with classes held 1-5 p.m. on campus. It includes two practice tests and 33 hours of classroom instruction. After each practice test, students receive Personalized Score Reports that identify their strengths and weaknesses. In addition to the in-class instruction, students also receive a complete Online College Readiness Course that includes preparation for the SAT, the ACT, and the PSAT plus practice AP and SAT II exams, a college search engine, a career interest inventory, a scholarship search database, and chances to win scholarships.

The fee for the course is only $500 for those who register by July 17. The onsite registration fee is $545, so students can save by registering early.

“This is the best value for the quality of the instruction that students will receive from this course. There has not been such an opportunity available until now to area students who want to substantially increase their SAT scores,” said Jayshree Bhat, coordinator for Continuing Education at UTPA.
