The daylong conference, titled “Conceptualizing Injustice: Images/Voices of Resistance,” will begin at 8 a.m. in various locations on the first floor of the UTPA Social and Behavioral Sciences Building located on the north side of campus at the southeast corner of Sugar Rd. and Van Week St.
Conference activities include presentations and panel discussions by faculty, students and committee members, film and photo documentaries, poetry readings and art exhibits. The event is free and open to all.
“The goal of the conference/exhibition is to engage the students, community and the faculty in a dialogue about social problems that affect our lives locally, regionally and globally, plus to provide a safe space for dialogue and protest,” said Dr. Rosalva Resendiz, associate professor in the Department of Criminal Justice. “Not only do we want to raise social consciousness, we want to provide an avenue for discussing solutions to these problems.”
