Among the University events scheduled include a yard art competition, scavenger hunt, Bronc olympics, and coronation ball where a homecoming king and queen will be crowned.
“We hope that students become involved in the festivities to show pride for UTPA,” said Carina Medrano, coordinator of campus activities.
Homecoming, hosted by the University Program Board, Office of Student Development, Student Union, and the UTPA Athletics and Alumni Association, is an annual event that promotes University spirit and pride.
Homecoming Week schedule is as follows:
Monday, Feb. 16: Yard Art Competition, Quad, noon
Monday, Feb. 16: Student Organization Scavenger Hunt, Student Union Commons, 5 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 17: Meet the Broncs, Student Union Café, noon
Wednesday, Feb. 18: Bronc Challenge, Chapel Lawn, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 18: Bronc Olympics, Troxel Lawn, 4 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 19: Variety Talent Show Student, Student Union Theatre, 7 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 20: Coronation Ball, TBD, 8 p.m.
In addition, the Alumni Association will host a tailgate party and fajita cook off contest on Saturday, Feb. 21 in conjunction with the UTPA men’s and women’s basketball games. The event is open to the community and will feature entertainment, moon jumps, free food and giveaways. Cook-off contest registration is due by Wednesday, Feb 18 and can be completed at the Alumni Relations office at the University Center, Room 108. Cash prizes for cook-off winners include $200 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place.
