|Attorney for Advocacy Inc. Chance Heinsohn spoke to the UTPA community on the American Disabilities Act (ADA) during Disabilities Awareness Days on Wednesday, Oct. 8.|
DADs continues with a Community Agency and Job Fair Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Student Union.
“Students that attend the community agency fair will become aware of the services offered by various community-based organizations that provide services to individuals with disabilities such as vocational rehabilitation services, educational assistance and other sufficiency-related services,” said Maureen F. McClain, associate director for disability services.
Community agencies, expected to participate in the fair will be Tropical Behavioral Health, HOPE Family Center, Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, Renaissance Behavioral Center, and others. The job fair is open to everyone.
A Health Screening and Technology Fair will also be held on Thursday, Oct. 9 at the Student Union from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The main purpose of the fair is to promote awareness disabilities and focus on the screening and prevention of disabilities.
Attorney for Advocacy Inc. Chance Heinsohn will speak on the American Disabilities Act (ADA) on Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 10-11 a.m. at the Engineering Auditorium Room 1.300.
“Faculty and students with or without disabilities will benefit from understanding how ADA affects postsecondary education settings,” said McClain.
The goal of DADs is to promote discussion, insight and experimental involvement for those persons without disabilities and those with disabilities through various activities.
