“The scholarship drawing was put in place as an incentive to encourage students who have not yet applied for financial aid to do so. Every student should apply for financial aid. There’s some sort of aid for everyone, whether it be grant, scholarship, work-study or student loan,” said Student Financial Services Assistant Director William Morley.
To apply for financial aid, students (or parents if applicable) are required to bring their 2007 Federal Income Tax Return. At the Express Lab, students and parents will receive one-on-one assistance with filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The financial aid priority deadline every year is April 1.
Morley said that it is important that all students apply for financial aid early, for the opportunity to receive money from programs that have limited funding. Students who receive financial aid early also avoid worrying about waiting in line on payment deadline dates.
Express Lab hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
