| Dr. Melanie Booth-Butterfield will speak at UTPA March 4 as part of the inaugural Hauser Lecture. | |
Booth-Butterfield is a nationally recognized researcher who conducts research examining the relationships between communication, cognition, and emotion, as well as processes and outcomes involved in humor enactments, interpersonal/relational communication, and health communication.
“Her engaging speaking style is audience-centered and students will leave the lecture with a new understanding of their own communication skills,” said Dr. Timothy Mottet, professor and Henry W. and Margaret Hauser Chair in Communication at UTPA.
Booth-Butterfield will be speaking on campus for two days with her husband, Dr. Steven Booth Butterfield, who is among the 50 most prolific researchers in the communication studies discipline and an independent consultant in private practice.
The Hauser Lecture is made possible by the Henry W. and Margaret H. Hauser Endowed Chair in Communication, which was established in 1989. The endowment was created because Margaret was a communication educator who had a lifelong desire to improve people’s ability to communicate.
