We are writing to inform you that Dr. (Blandina) Cárdenas has successfully undergone major heart surgery today and will be recuperating in private. Her family reports that she is doing well.
Dr. Cárdenas and her family appreciate thoughts and prayers during this private time and feel confident that the University’s leadership will carry on the vision and mission until her return in the near future.
Dr. Cárdenas has asked that flowers not be sent and that instead anyone who wishes to make a donation can do so to the Valley Heroes Scholarship Fund at UTPA.
We know that you will join us in wishing her a complete and speedy recovery.
Until her return, Dr. Paul Sale, Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, will serve as the University’s Chief Operating Officer.
