Tropical Storm Erin, which has situated itself on the Gulf of Mexico, is expected to drop up to 10 inches of rain in Hidalgo County, according to current weather predictions.
At this time UTPA does not plan on canceling classes or closing the campus, however should you feel it is unsafe for travel to campus, please stay home, even if the University has not canceled classes or closed the campus. Administrators are asking the UTPA community to use their best judgment in this decision.
Your safety is of utmost concern to the University and if you feel that safety necessitates you to take leave, discuss this with your supervisor or professor.
Administrators will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Erin and will make a decision to cancel classes or close campus should weather conditions call for it.
