High school seniors and their parents as well as any individual interested in pursuing pharmacy as a career are welcome to attend and will have the opportunity to obtain admission requirements and other information about the Cooperative Pharmacy Program. Visitors will also be able to meet with the program’s faculty, staff and current students.
“The goal of the Cooperative Pharmacy Program is to help alleviate the shortage of pharmacists and to encourage more Rio Grande Valley youth to consider pursing pharmacy as a career,” said Michelle Alvarado, Cooperative Pharmacy Program academic adviser.
The RAHC, located at 1214 W. Schunior, Edinburg, houses the six-year program, which provides “conditional admission” to the UT Austin College of Pharmacy, currently ranked as number two in the country among pharmacy programs. Upon successful completion, students in the program will earn a Doctorate of Pharmacy from The University of Texas at Austin.
