This is the fifth year that Walgreens has given scholarships to students in the program and the first year Walgreens has awarded this many scholarships. Walgreens, the nation’s largest drugstore chain, operates 5,515 stores in 47 states and Puerto Rico, and provides additional services to pharmacy patients and prescription drug and medical plans through Walgreens Health Services, its managed care division.

The UTPA Cooperative Pharmacy Program accepts 14 high school seniors into the six-year program each year. Those admitted and who successfully complete the program will earn a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy.
