As the fall semester approaches, students at The University of Texas-Pan American who need to access offices in the Student Services Building (SSB) to make final preparations for classes will be allowed to park in lot A1 Aug. 21-Sept. 12.

The UTPA fall semester is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 24. Lot A1, a 31-space reserved parking lot south of the SSB, is temporarily being converted to one-hour student parking from 7:30 a.m. until the close of each business day for the next several weeks to better serve students.

“The students need to have spaces available to conduct their business,” Jim Langabeer, vice president for Business Affairs, said. “The president has asked that all impacted faculty and staff accommodate this inconvenience for the first several weeks so the students can get into the system without undue irritants.”

Individuals with reserved parking permits that might be displaced will need to park in lots either east or west of the SSB. Citations will be issued to those who park in any other reserved spaces around campus without a reserved permit.

To further assist students, a shuttle will take students from lots B and G to buildings such as the Marialice Shary Shivers Administration Building, SSB and Visitors Center from 7:30-8 a.m. The shuttle will resume its regular route after 8 a.m.
