| Special Education Department members of the Valley View ISD recently toured the Project Enhance Assistive Technology Lab located at UTPA. | |
Free tours of the lab providing hands-on experimentation with the equipment are available to anyone who has a disability or who works with people with disabilities.
On a recent visit to the AT Lab with her staff, Elizabeth Bernal Lopez, special education director for the Valley View ISD, said her department used an in-service day to tour the facility.
“You have a lot of things here and I like the fact that we have an opportunity to practice and to see how the equipment works. Sometimes we just get catalogs and we don’t know how the equipment works or if it is really good for our kids,” she said. She encouraged special education departments from other districts as well as the parents of special education students to visit the AT Lab.
