Cosponsored by the UTPA Addictions Studies Project, the conference will provide up to date information from practitioners, researchers and educators on issues related to counseling, rehabilitation and addictions. Twelve different speakers will present on a variety of topics including “Violence Against Women with Disabilities,” “Drug Trends in the Rio Grande Valley,” and “Humor in the Workplace,” among others.
“Besides learning about issues related to the profession, this conference allows Valley professionals to network with other professionals and educators from the area and across Texas as well as the opportunity to earn continuing education units toward their professional licenses and certifications” said Judith Guetzow, project coordinator of the End Violence Against Women with Disabilities Project and one of the conference presenters. Guetzow said conference attendance could provide up to 10 continuing education units toward continued licensing and certification of licensed chemical dependency counselors, certified rehabilitation counselors, licensed professional counselors and licensed social workers.
