The job fair is one of many activities sponsored by the Office of Career Placement Services during National Student Employment Week, April 11-15. The week – designated by the National Student Employment Association – recognizes the importance and contributions of the student employee in the workforce.
Student employment offers students career-enhancing opportunities, the ability to develop skills relevant in any career and better preparation for the job market upon graduation.
Local employers will be present and looking to hire part-time or full-time non-degreed employees during the fair. Among the employers expected to participate in the fair will be The Buckle, House Calls Homebased Health Care, Obra Homes, Outback Steakhouse, Sierra Title of Hidalgo County, Southern Connection dba Verizon Wireless and many more.
UTPA students are encouraged to bring several copies of their updated résumés and dress appropriately.
Employers interested in participating in the job fair should register in advance, no later than April 7. A registration fee of $50 will be included per organization. Outback Steakhouse will provide lunch for employers.
