President Cárdenas speaks at ribbon cutting of San Isidro school complex

Dr. Blandina Cárdenas, president of The University of Texas-Pan American, talked to students and joined San Isidro school and community leaders in celebrating their vision of improving education for their children with the recent opening of a new school building. Cárdenas was the main speaker at the ribbon-cutting celebration for the Junior High and High School Complex located in San Isidro, 30 miles north of Rio Grande City. Being from a small community herself, Cárdenas spoke about the excitement of small town pride and the importance of coming together to meet the needs of their children’s education. She commended the group calling it a wise investment for their future. Other attendees included San Isidro Superintendent Miguel E, Garcia, Principal Anna M. Garcia, CEO for Region 1 Education Service Center Dr. Sylvia Hatton and State Representative for District 31 Ryan Guillen.
