The Office of Student Development, Student Life and Transition Services and the UTPA Athletics Department organized the activities – which include a Homecoming Court that will be announced during the Bronc basketball game against Central Baptist College at the UTPA Fieldhouse, 7:30 p.m. The Homecoming Court will be announced at 7:15 p.m.
This year’s Homecoming nominees for king, queen, prince, princess, duke and duchess include Tomas Joel Pineda, junior, Sigma Lambda Beta; Maritza M. Hamill, senior, American Marketing Association; Deidra Johnson, sophomore, Delta Zeta; Jesse Martinez, senior, Real Sociedad F.C.; Sylvia Duran, senior, Alpha Sigma Tau; Dannely Flores, senior, UTPA track and field team; Marialicia Andrade, senior, Alpha Lambda Delta; Andrew Perez, junior, Phi Kappa Theta; Marena Villagomez, junior, Kappa Delta Chi; Michael Jon McCarthy, senior, Kappa Sigma; and Marisol Mena, junior, Sigma Lambda Gamma.
To vote for these Homecoming candidates, UTPA students can cast their ballots Feb. 14-17 at the following locations: Feb. 14 – University Center, Room 205, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.; Feb. 15 – Student Union Commons, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and University Center, Room 205, 1:30-7 p.m.; Feb. 16 – University Center, Room 205, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Feb. 17 – University Library Lobby, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday’s events will kick off at 6 p.m. with a “Caravan of Lights” down University Drive to the UTPA Fieldhouse in which University students and campus organizations can show their school spirit and creativity. Participants in the caravan must decorate their vehicles using lights and the school colors of orange, green and white. The caravan will start at the University Center West Parking Lot.
Participants in the caravan will have the opportunity to win a trophy and cash prize. The winners of this event will be announced during the basketball game.
