“Our original goal was set at 150 contributors and $20,000. We ended up with 253 contributors and more than $30,000. Since the campaign kick-off on Oct. 7, I held several motivational meetings with different departments to raise awareness and help employees understand the significant difference that one’s contributions, large or small, can make in our community,” Perez said.
Created in 1993, the SECC provides state employees an opportunity to give to local, state and national charities through the convenience of payroll deduction or a one-time contribution. The SECC is the only statutorily authorized workplace campaign for state agency and higher education employees in Texas. In 2003, the campaign marked its 10th year by raising $7.7 million for charitable organizations throughout the state.
