Administrators in Enrollment and Student Services plan for future

Directors from the Division of Enrollment and Student Services from The University of Texas-Pan American met August 4-5 for their annual strategic planning meeting. As part of the conference held at the Holiday Inn Holidome in McAllen, Kevin Giddens, certified presenter from the “Who Moved My Cheese?” company, conducted a workshop based on the 1998 best-selling book by Dr. Spencer Johnson. Written in parable form and a favorite read among educators, the book “Who Moved My Cheese?” addresses the reactions of people to change and informs and encourages people how to accept and embrace it in a positive manner. The interactive workshop, which incorporates the book’s themes into institutional growth and change challenges, is supported by the Web site WhoMovedMyCheese.com Attendees included Dr. John Edwards and Dennis McMillan, vice president and associate vice president respectively for the Division of Enrollment and Student Services; Michelle Alvarado, director of Student Financial Services; Debbie Gilchrist, director of New Student and Visitor Services; Rick Gray, director of Student Health Services/OSPD; Susie Miller, director of High School to University Services; Dr. Jerry Price, dean of students; Dr. Mary Alice Reyes, GEAR UP director; Connie Rosas-Najera, director of University Testing Services; Felipe Salinas, director of College Access and Support Programs; Sam Smith, director of Student Business Services and Student Union; Richard Treviño, director of Student Support Services; Kelly Shannon, systems analyst IV in Admissions and Records; and Norma Gonzalez, associate director of Admissions and Records.
