The Project Enhance Assistive Technology Lab at The University of Texas-Pan American will host an open house Thursday, Feb. 26 for the community from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The lab – which is part of the UTPA Department of Rehabilitation Services – was created to help students with disabilities learn about the latest technology being used to assist in rehabilitation education.
“The assistive technology lab provides training to students, faculty, administrators and staff regarding the types of technology available that can help improve the recruitment, retention and graduation of students with disabilities,” said Hector Requeñez, AT Lab coordinator. “The lab is also available to professionals such as educators, rehabilitation counselors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, mental health counselors and others who work with individuals with disabilities.”
During the open house, the lab will be available for demonstrations, technology training, technology evaluations for UTPA students, general information and referrals.
