Workshops on spirituality and aging to be held Jan. 29

The Reverend Donald Koepke, director of the Center for Spirituality and Ethics in Aging in Anaheim, Calif., will be offering a pair of workshops on “Spirituality and Health in an Aging Population: A New Paradigm” at The University of Texas-Pan American, Jan. 29.

The workshops, sponsored by the UTPA Center on Aging and Health, will be held in the Student Union Theatre from noon- 1 p.m., and from 2-4 p.m. The first presentation is designed for undergraduate and graduate students in health care and social work programs, while the later workshop is primarily intended for faculty and staff of the University.

Koepke is a nationally known speaker on issues of health, spirituality and care giving for the elderly. He has worked with students and educators in various settings to enhance public awareness of both the problems and the opportunities for those who provide care for the aging.

The seminars are free and open to the public. Anyone who has an interest in addressing concerns raised by care for the aging, or who may themselves be involved in providing care for aging parents, relatives or friends, is invited to attend.
