“There is a formula for success,” said Dr. Gilberto Delossantos, keynote speaker and associate professor in Educational Leadership program. “There are six steps one needs to take to achieve great things. First, love what you do. Second, have a vision – know what you want to accomplish. Third, plan. Fourth, set miles stones and objectives. Fifth, focus and sixth implement.”

The convocation celebrated the brightest and most accomplished students at the University. Many of them maintain a full-class load, work full-time and raise families.

“I am thankful for my professors at UTPA,” said Ana Lisa Treviño, an education student at UTPA. “I hope to be like them. I want my students to say that I was a tough teacher, but a good one.”
