The University of Texas-Pan American will welcome nationally renowned author and speaker Dr. Michael Parenti of Berkley, California to campus for a lecture March 26 at the UTPA Student Union at 7:30 p.m.
Parenti will give an address entitled “Empire, Terrorism and the War On Iraq,” discussing state sanctioned terrorism – terrorism endorsed by a government.
The lecture will be held March 26 in the UTPA Student Union Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
“I think there’s a lot of excitement at the University,” said Dr. Samuel Freeman, associate professor of Political Science. “Many of us use his texts in our classes. His writing is very thought provoking.”
Parenti is the author of 17 books including the popular American Government text, “Democracy for the Few” and his most recent work “The Terrorism Trap: September 11 and Beyond.” His works have been translated into at least eight languages, including Spanish, Japanese and German.
Parenti’s presentation is sponsored by the Political Science Association, University Student Union/Student Center, Dean of Students, Pre-Law Society, Lambda Alpha, Anthropology Club, Silver-Tongue Orators and Sociology Club.
