Dr. Reginald Sylvanus Olusegun Wallace(left) – one of the world’s foremost authorities on international accounting - and Dr. John Emery, Dean of the College of Business Administration, attend a reception at the Visitors Center held in honor of the visiting professor.

“It is both an honor and a privilege to have someone with his academic and professional experience on our campus,” said Dr. Wig DeMoville, the chair of Accounting and Business Law Department.

Wallace – who is associated with almost a dozen business related journals for scholars – was the featured speaker in the Sam and Bea Lack Faculty Development Lecture Series. He spoke to the audience about the processes and procedures for publishing in Tier-One Journals, the most prestigious publications on the market for professors and researchers.

“His lecture was very well received. The information he provided will help this institution reach its goal of becoming a research intensive University,” DeMoville said.

Currently, Wallace is the managing editor of Research in Accounting in Emerging Economies; the inaugural editor of the Journal of International Accounting Research, which is the journal of the International Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association; and the associate editor of the British Accounting Review and Journal of Accounting Literature. He also serves on the editorial board of the following journals: Issues in Accounting Education, Accounting Horizon; Financial Management and Accounting; Journal of Accounting and Public Policy; and Accounting and Business Research.

Wallace – originally from Nigeria – has spent a lifetime in the professional and academic world of business. While in his home country, Wallace served as the finance director of a leading hotel; chief accountant of a multinational milk manufacturing company; and managing director of a shipping company. He also served as lecturer in institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, including the University of Lagos where he was the head of the Research and Advisory Unit of the Department of Business Administration. In 1985 he left for the United Kingdom. After obtaining his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Exeter in England, he served as senior lecturer in Accountancy at the Cardiff Business School, University of Wales, and as research professor of Accounting and Finance at Middlesex University Business School.

To date, Wallace has over 50 publications to his credit. ###
