The University of Texas-Pan American is gearing-up for another semester, and early registration numbers indicate a significant increase from the same time last year. As of Dec. 3, there was a 10 percent increase with 33 days left for early registration.
Early telephone, web and online registration will be held through January 6, and schedule changes can be made through January 17. The spring semester begins January 13.
Students can register over the telephone by calling 956/381-3000, visiting the University’s web site at www.assist.panam.edu or going online at telnet panam1.panam.edu
ASSIST, or Advanced Services for Student Information Supported by Technology, provides students access to general, academic and financial information from home and various locations on campus. It is a secure system that eliminates the need for in-put registration.
UTPA officials said registering early will help eliminate any complications before beginning classes.
“Registering early allows students the flexibility to schedule classes on the day they want, at the time they want and with the professor they want,” said Deborah Gilchrist, associate director for Student and Visitors Services.
The ASSIST phone line and web site are operational from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to midnight. Computer labs in the Academic Services Building are also available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Payment deadlines for student who registered from Oct. 21 to Jan. 3 will be on Jan. 3. Payment deadlines for students who register or make changes to their schedules will be Jan. 17.
Students can make payments with campus KIOSKs at any 10 locations on campus.
