| Award-winning novelist Kathleen Alcalá gave a lecture and reading recently at The University of Texas-Pan American. Sponsored by the Department of English, the event included a question-and-answer session after the reading, along with a reception and book signing. Alcalá – author of the Mexico trilogy "Spirits of the Ordinary," "The Flower in the Skull" and "Treasures in Heaven" – is a well-known Mexican-American writer whose works have received the Western States Book Award, the Governor’s Writers Award and a Pacific Northwest Bookseller’s Award. She is also co-founder and contributing editor of the "Raven Chronicles." |
