Powers will meet with UTPA President Dr. Miguel A. Nevárez before hosting an interactive discussion about the UT School of Law from 10-11:30 a.m. at the University Ballroom. He will talk about the value of a legal education and the UT School of Law academic program, as well as answer students’ questions.
Powers holds the John Jeffers Research Chair, the Hines H. Baker and Thelma Kelley Baker Chair in Law and is a University Distinguished Teaching Professor. He is especially well known for his writings on products liability, a field in which he remains active in cutting-edge litigation. He also teaches and writes in jurisprudence.
Powers received his J.D. from the Harvard Law School in 1973 and his B.A. in 1967 from the University of California-Berkeley.
