The University of Texas-Pan American Clark Gallery will host “Explorations,” a Master of Fine Arts graduate exhibit, from Jan. 17 to Feb. 10.
A reception for the exhibit is Thursday, Jan. 24 from 7-9 p.m. in the Charles and Dorothy Clark Gallery in the Fine Arts Building. There will be a musical program from 7-7:30 p.m. by the University Wind Trio featuring Cassandra Sanchez on flute, Robert Villalon on clarinet and Randy Cantu on piano.
The exhibit features the work of 16 students pursuing their Master of Fine Arts degrees. They are John Bazan, Jesus de la Rosa, Rene Garza, Maria Alba Gonzalez, Kelly Krahe, Opal Jane Lemaster, Chris Leonard, Lillia Munoz, Esau Rubio Pena, Ray Poquette, Julian Rodriguez, Manuel Saenz Jr., Anna Salinas, Fulden Sara, Jeremy Schmidt and Ben Varela.
The works are both two- and three-dimensional in a wide range of styles and media. There is sculptural work in welded steel as well as in clay. The two-dimensional art ranges from drawings in pen and ink to large oil and acrylic paintings. There is also a variety of mixed media work.
