All three teams from The University of Texas-Pan American placed at the fourth annual South Central Texas Regional Ethics Bowl recently in San Antonio.
Two University teams (Blue and Red) tied for second, and the Green team placed third. Event participants included Southern Methodist University, St. Mary's University, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Southwest Texas State University.
This year’s teams were as follows:

Red – Mecca Willman (captain), Orlando Luna and Athena Ponce, philosophy majors, and Devin Lacey, pre-medical student.
Green – Joel Betancourt (captain), Tommy Garza and Ruby Zavala, philosophy majors, and Angela Gallegos, English.
The three teams received considerable support. Additional thanks go to members of the UTPA Philosophy Program. UTPA first entered the competition four years ago through the efforts initiated by Dr. Thomas Pearson, philosophy associate professor, with the assistance of Dr. David Carter, philosophy assistant professor.
Dr. Kenneth Buckman, philosophy associate professor, joined three years ago, followed by Dr. Raymond Welch, philosophy professor and program coordinator, and Theresa Norman, philosophy lecturer, this year.
