Estate planning seminars continue

The second in a free series of estate planning seminars in simple, non-technical language is Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 12-4 p.m. at Las Brasas in Edinburg.

Sponsored by the UTPA Foundation and the Rio Grande Valley Estate Planning Council, Inc., the seminars – now in their 20th year – are led by volunteer teams of estate planning professionals, including attorneys, financial planners, certified public accountants, trust officers and investment brokers.

The Jan. 15 seminar is on "Life Planning Tool Box" by attorneys Morgan Talbot and Judy Wong, CPA Pablo Vela and broker Dennis Burleson. Admission is free, but seating is limited.

Additional seminars are as follows:

· Jan. 22 – "Estate Planning for the 21st Century" by attorneys Boone Slusher and Robert Whitis; 2-5 p.m., Mr. Gatti’s in McAllen, dinner following.

· Feb. 3 – "Estate Planning for Everyone" by brokers John Martin and Bill Martin; 12-3 p.m., Echo Hotel in Edinburg, lunch before seminar.

· Feb. 12 – "Economic Growth, the Tax Act of 2001 and You" by attorney Bill Ellis; 2-5 p.m., Mr. Gatti’s in McAllen, dinner following.

· Feb. 20 – "Estate Planning for the 21st Century" by attorneys Ed Mann and David Kithcart; 2-5 p.m., Mr. Gatti’s in Harlingen, dinner following.

· Feb. 27 – "Legal Answers to Your Estate Planning Questions" by attorneys Marlane Meyer and Molly Thornberry; 2-5 p.m., Mr. Gatti’s in McAllen, dinner following.

· March 3 – "Estate Planning for Everyone" by brokers John Martin and Bill Martin; 12-3 p.m., Echo Hotel in Edinburg, lunch before seminar.
