The University of Texas-Pan American University Gallery is hosting “Dia de los Muertos Altars” from Oct. 31 to Nov. 16.

A reception is Thursday, Nov. 1 from 7-9 p.m. in the University Gallery in the Communication Arts and Sciences Building. The public can vote for the best pieces from 7-8:30 p.m., with winners announced afterward and presented prizes made by University faculty.
The altars are constructed by UTPA graduate and undergraduate students, and some will address the recent tragic events in New York, Washington, D.C. and South Padre Island. There also will be traditional and sculptural entries in clay and mixed media.
Admission to all exhibitions is free, and the galleries are open Monday through Friday, except University holidays. For more information or special accommodations, please call the University Gallery at 956/381-2655 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
