The walk will begin at the new Edinburg Baseball Stadium and continue through the UTPA campus for 3.5 miles.
The event is open to the public. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and includes a $15 entry fee per person.
The "Walk of Excellence" will raise funds for student scholarships and other student activities. All participants will be University student organization members who are currently soliciting pledges from other students, family, faculty, staff and the general public.
More than 30 student organizations including fraternities have committed to participate. All student organizations will be eligible to receive a percentage of the funds they raise.
The Walk-a-thon will be capped off with food and drinks for all pledge donors.
