The 72-page report, which is funded by the local chapter of the Texas Recreation Vehicle Association, focuses on the spending patterns, demographics and economic impact of Winter Texans, Mexican nationals and other Valley visitors, including eco-tourists.
Dr. Vern Vincent, director of the UTPA Tourism Research Center, said he will also discuss how the recent U.S. terrorism attacks and the Queen Isabella Causeway collapse in South Padre Island will influence the Valley’s tourism industry.
Vincent, along with Dr. William Thompson, professor of marketing, Dr. Dewayne Hodges, professor of quantitative measurements and Andres Rivas-Chavez, finance and economics doctoral candidate prepared the report.
The reports are available for $30 at the UTPA Tourism Research Center. For more information, contact Dr. Vincent at 381-3395.
