The University of Texas-Pan American Clark Gallery will host “Mexican-American Dichos, Proverbs Interpreted Through Art,” an exhibit by UTPA Master of Fine Arts candidate Jennifer Michele Rodriguez, from March 26 to April 12.
A reception for the exhibit is March 29 from 6:30-9 p.m. in the Charles and Dorothy Clark Gallery in the Fine Arts Building. A short film done by the artists will be shown featuring older members of the Hispanic population recalling original "dichos."
Rodriguez constructs images and iconography based on her interpretation of Mexican-American "dichos," or proverbs. Her series of paintings and collective art pieces focus on proverbs unique and familiar to people of the Rio Grande Valley.
Admission to all exhibitions is free, and the galleries are open Monday through Friday, except University holidays. For more information or special accommodations, please call the University Gallery at 956/381-2655 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
